Mr. Paavan Kumar Reddy Gollapalli
Paavan Kumar Reddy Gollapalli (KRG) is a passionate advocate for sustainable agriculture and water management. With a degree in Agricultural Engineering (B. Tech.) from Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS from the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun, Paavan has a strong educational background. He gained invaluable hands-on experience and insights into unique agricultural practices across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Paavan also immersed himself in the agricultural landscapes of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Kerala during a three-month rural India exploration, appreciating local cultural heritage and traditional knowledge.
Drawing from his experiences, Paavan excels in agroforestry and amplifies regenerative agriculture programs in northwest India. Collaborating with stakeholders, he enhances water efficiency across canal systems and soil quality, fostering sustainable rural development.
Throughout his career, Paavan contributed significantly to organizations such as ITC Limited's Social Investments Division. He played a pivotal role in planning and monitoring water stewardship initiatives, springshed management, and conservation agriculture projects. At the Water and Land Management Training and Research Institute (WALAMTARI), he evaluated irrigation schemes, measuring water efficiency, and re-estimating command boundaries.
An avid advocate of innovation, Paavan developed a toolkit for canal network digitization using open-source GIS tools, recognized by the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID). Twice awarded the "Young Professional Scholarship" by ICID, Paavan expanded his expertise through training programs in Mexico and South Korea.
Furthermore, Paavan's engagement with the Watershed Organization Trust (WOTR) enabled him to implement projects for rural livelihood development. Promoting the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and crop intensification techniques, he empowered farmers to reduce costs and increase sustainable income.
